Anshu Jaggi is the Founder & Artistic Director of Nritya Nupur Dance Academy (New York) & Dance Divine (India). Anshu’s enchanting journey into the world of Kathak commenced under the luminous tutelage of Prakash Ganganiji, a custodian of the illustrious Jaipur Gharana. A seeker of perfection, her artistic soul resonated with the elegance of Lucknow Gharana, beckoning her to the revered Guru Munna Shukla ji.Guided by the stars of Kathak, Anshu’s destiny intertwined with the illustrious Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj, an embodiment of grace and wisdom. Accepted into his hallowed realm, she embarked on a transformative voyage, learning exclusively from the maestro himself.
In 2001, Anshu’s aspirations materialized into the radiant reality of Dance Divine (http://dancedivineacademy.com/), an academy nestled in the heart of Delhi, India. Its walls echoed with the rhythmic footsteps of more than hundreds of eager students, forming a symphony of dedication and passion.
As seasons turned, the academy’s annual functions unfurled into splendid galas, dazzling parents and guests alike. The stage came alive with a tapestry of performances, a testament to the dedication of both students and mentors.
Fuelled by her devotion to the art, Anshu’s legacy traversed continents. In 2019, Nritya Nupur Dance Academy was born in New York, a haven where culture and creativity converged. Beyond just a dance and music school, it became a nurturing crucible for aspiring artists, celebrating individuality and fostering innovation.

Beneath the illustrious banner of Pandit Birju Maharaj, Anshu adorned stages of grandeur, gracing events that etched her name in the annals of dance history. She enchanted audiences at Maharaj ji’s official gatherings, Kala Ashram’s reverberating echoes, and the vibrant Vasantotsava celebrations. In the divine aura of Vrindavan temple, Anshu’s dance echoed the timeless tales of Krishna Leela, infusing spirituality into her every step. The global stage embraced her on World Dance Day, an ode to her artistry orchestrated by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR).
A pinnacle of her journey radiated at the Commonwealth Games’ grand opening in 2010, as her performance illuminated the ceremony with its brilliance. The Ashta-Nayika, those eight enchantresses of Natya Shastra’s ancient lore, found life in her intricate movements, a tribute to the dance’s timeless heritage. Among a constellation of cherished memories, Anshu’s path remains adorned with too many other milestones, each a chapter in her mesmerizing journey of dance and artistry.
