My Journey

My enchanting journey into the world of Kathak commenced under the luminous tutelage of Prakash Ganganiji, a custodian of the illustrious Jaipur Gharana. A seeker of perfection, my artistic soul resonated with the elegance of Lucknow Gharana, beckoning me to the revered Guru Munna Shukla ji.

Guided by the stars of Kathak, my destiny intertwined with the illustrious Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj — an embodiment of grace and wisdom. Accepted into his hallowed realm, I embarked on a transformative voyage, learning exclusively from the maestro himself. Beneath his banner, I adorned stages of grandeur, gracing events at Maharaj ji's official gatherings, Kala Ashram's reverberating echoes, and the vibrant Vasantotsava celebrations. In the divine aura of Vrindavan temple, my dance echoed the timeless tales of Krishna Leela, infusing spirituality into every step.

The global stage embraced me on World Dance Day — an ode to artistry orchestrated by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR). A pinnacle of my journey radiated at the Commonwealth Games' grand opening ceremony in 2010, where my performance illuminated the occasion with its brilliance. The Ashta-Nayika — those eight enchantresses of Natya Shastra's ancient lore — found life in my intricate movements, a tribute to dance's timeless heritage.

In 2001, my aspirations materialised into the radiant reality of Dance Divine — an academy nestled in the heart of Delhi, India. Its walls echoed with the rhythmic footsteps of more than a hundred eager students, forming a symphony of dedication and passion. As seasons turned, the academy's annual functions unfurled into splendid galas, dazzling parents and guests alike.

Fuelled by devotion to the art, my legacy traversed continents. In 2019, Nritya Nupur Dance Academy was born in New York — a haven where culture and creativity converge. Beyond just a dance school, it became a nurturing crucible for aspiring artists, celebrating individuality and fostering innovation. Today, my teachings resonate globally as I impart the art of Kathak online, encapsulating the essence of tradition in a digital realm.
